I’m Yunhan Liu, a Ph.D. candidate in Informatics at Pennsylvania State University, and a member of the Health and Play Lab, where I’m advised by Dr. Xinning Gui.
Broadly, my work sits in Human–Computer Interaction (HCI). I currently study how teenagers encounter online gambling and gambling-like systems, and how these experiences connect to online safety, risk awareness, and sensemaking.
Beyond specific topics or methods, I am consistently drawn to people—how they interpret, negotiate, and live with complex systems in their everyday lives. I am particularly interested in moments of uncertainty, ambiguity, and risk, and in how people make sense of these experiences rather than simply being shaped by them.
